Website Concept & Visual Direction
Poke ono by Urvin croes
Overview
Poke Ono Aruba is a restaurant offering Asian and Hawaiian-inspired cuisine in a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere. The goal of this project was to explore how the Poke Ono website could evolve from a one-page layout into a more engaging, multi-page experience that better highlights food, atmosphere, and brand personality.
Due to changes in project scope and the absence of a development team, the final deliverable became a conceptual website proposal rather than a technical design handoff.
The result is a visual and structural recommendation presented as a PDF/Canva deck, intended to guide future digital decisions.
My Role
UX/UI Designer (Concept & Strategy)
I was responsible for:
Website structure and user flow
Visual direction and moodboards
Homepage concept
Color exploration
Animation inspiration
Content hierarchy
Final concept presentation
Website Structure
I proposed moving from a one-page layout to a multi-page structure, allowing each section, menu, experience, about, locations , to have its own purpose and space.
Motion & Interaction Ideas
Instead of static visuals, I explored how menu items could inspire animation: steaming ramen, bouncing bao buns, layered poke bowls, and playful hover effects.
These ideas were presented as inspiration for future development.
Final Reflection
This project strengthened my ability to adapt design processes based on changing conditions, while stilldelivering meaningful value. By shifting from technical UI to conceptual storytelling, I was able to focus on experience, emotion, and clarity aspects of effective UX/UI design.
Problem
The existing website structure limited storytelling and made it difficult to showcase the menu, experience, and people behind the brand. Important content competed on a single page, reducing clarity and engagement.
Additionally, project constraints changed mid-process, shifting the focus from development-ready UI to conceptual exploration.
