An intimate chef’s table with limitless possibilities

Overview

Infini is an intimate chef’s table experience in Aruba, where dining becomes performance.
The goal of this project was to translate Infini’s sensory, emotional atmosphere into a digital experience , creating a website that feels cinematic, immersive, and intentional, rather than transactional.

Instead of designing a traditional restaurant website, I approached this as an experience design challenge:
How do you make users feel the anticipation of a tasting menu before they ever arrive?

Interaction & Experience

Subtle motion, slow transitions, and oversized imagery were used to:

  • Create calm pacing

  • Reduce cognitive load

  • Let visuals breathe

  • Emphasize craft

The experience prioritizes feeling over efficiency — while still remaining intuitive and accessible.

The Challenge

Most restaurant websites focus on logistics: menus, hours, reservations.

Infini is different. It’s about presence, craft, rhythm, and storytelling.

The challenge was to design a digital journey that:

  • Reflects the intimacy of the chef’s table

  • Communicates luxury without feeling cold

  • Builds emotional anticipation before booking

  • Translates flavor, pacing, and atmosphere into interaction

The experience needed to feel less like browsing and more like entering a performance.

Concept & Direction

I framed the website as a cinematic journey.

Inspired by fine-dining pacing and theatrical storytelling, I designed the interface around:

  • Slow reveals

  • Large immersive visuals

  • Editorial typography

  • Minimal UI

  • Strong contrast between light and dark

  • Emotion-first hierarchy

Each section was treated like a “course” guiding users through atmosphere, philosophy, and craft before ever presenting practical information.

The reservation moment becomes the climax of the experience, not just a but

Outcome

The final concept delivers:

  • A cinematic hospitality experience

  • Emotion-driven UX hierarchy

  • Clear conversion path through storytelling

  • Strong alignment between brand, atmosphere, and interaction

Rather than selling food, the design sells presence.

Reflection

This project strengthened my ability to design beyond screens.

I learned how to:

  • Translate physical atmosphere into digital interaction

  • Use pacing as a UX tool

  • Design with emotion as the primary driver

  • Balance concept with usability

If continued, I would validate interaction pacing through user testing and refine transitions based on real behavioral feedback.

Design Process

  • UX/UI Designer - responsible for concept development, user flows, wireframes, and visual design.

  • The challenge was to create a digital experience that not only informs but also conveys Infini’s emotion and atmosphere in an online environment.

  • I started with brand and audience analysis and explored how storytelling and mood could translate into UX structures. This revealed that a traditional menu layout did not support the desired experience.

  • Based on these insights, I developed a more cinematic website concept and restructured the menu into a single core experience with variations. I translated this into wireframes and high-fidelity designs, focusing on pacing, visual hierarchy, and interaction.

  • Through feedback sessions with stakeholders and developers, I iterated on the design multiple times, continuously balancing experience, usability, and technical feasibility.

  • The result is a concept that aligns more strongly with Infini’s identity. I learned the importance of grounding design decisions in research and feedback and taking a more active role as a UX/UI designer in collaborations.
